Two Members of Parliament from Sylhet have secured positions in the newly formed cabinet following the swearing-in ceremony of the 49-member government.

The ministers from Sylhet are Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, elected from Sylhet-1 (Sadar-City), and Ariful Haque Chowdhury, elected from Sylhet-4 (Jaintiapur–Gowainghat–Companiganj) and former mayor of Sylhet City Corporation.

They took oath on Tuesday (February 17) at approximately 4:15 PM before President Mohammad Shahabuddin during the official ceremony held in Dhaka.

Although their ministerial portfolios have not yet been formally announced, sources suggest that Khandaker Abdul Muktadir may be assigned responsibility for the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Jute & Textiles.

Meanwhile, Ariful Haque Chowdhury is expected to oversee the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, along with responsibilities related to the Labour Ministry.

The official gazette confirming their respective ministries is anticipated in the coming days.
